The Tri-City Youth Football League completed a very
successful season. Formation of the league in 1993 marked the
return of Pee Wee Football to the Parma, Parma Heights, and
Seven Hills area.
The success of the program is evident by the number of alumni
currently playing on their high school teams.
The league will offer a major sports activity for the first 200
youth registering, as well as help provide a solid foundation for
their future endeavors both on and off the football field.
TRI-CITY YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE ATHLETIC PHILOSOPHY
|
We believe the TCYFL focuses on the total development of each
child. They significantly influence the formation of values in all
participants.
TCYFL must provide not only for the development of
particular physical skills but also social interaction and
emotional stability. Consciously, we work with our young
people as whole persons. The young person, not the athletic
activity, is our key focus.
We believe that the TCYFL should be well organized and maintain standards of high quality.
We believe that all who have the opportunity to be on a team should also have the right to participate in the game.
|
Central to TCYFL is the coach. The coach sets the tone and gives
direction to any team. The coach's challenge is to take those
teachable moments of victory or loss and to teach values by the
manner which he/she mentors young people.
Successes are important for any team. It is the role of the coach
to enable the young person not to see success only in terms of
winning, more importantly, the coach teaches, that by setting
achievable personal and team goals and reaching those goals,
everyone is successful and a "winner". In the TCYFL the effort of
individuals striving to achieve team goals and at the same time
having fun.
Athletic programs which promote sportsmanship and build
character do not just look at what is being emphasized in
winning or losing, they are concerned with the individual as a
whole person. Their TCYFL provides and atmosphere of care,
growth and enjoyment for each child.
